Sometimes StarClan sends them messages and omens, but such honors are usually reserved for fully fledged medicine cats.
Warrior
Warriors make up the bulk of the Clan. There rank is reserved for cats 12+ moons, who have proved themselves worthy through apprentice training. They are responsible for defending there territory, hunting for the Clan and patrolling. They will also take on any task that the Clan need done when no other rank can do it.
Senior Warrior
Senior warriors are older, more respected warriors who sometimes are called upon to advise the leader and deputy. They have the same responsibilities as warriors. Senior warriors often have more of a chance at being given apprentices.
Mentor

Female mentors are not supposed to have kits; as it interrupts apprentice training. Mentors return to warrior status when they deem there apprentice worthy of becoming a warrior (12 moons).

Their is a maximum of two Medicine cats per Clan, though there is usually only one. Medicine cats communicate with StarClan, usually through dreams or omens only they can interpret. They are expected to heal other cats, and train there apprentices if they have one. Medicine cats can not have kits or mates.
Deputy
The deputy is second in command to the leader, and organizes patrols and hunting parties, as well as any other duties assigned by the leader. There is only ever one deputy. They help there leader and advise them in making discussions. A female deputy can not have kits, if she is to remain deputy though having a mate is permitted. A deputy is chosen by the leader, and there predecessor if the leader falls. Deputies also must train an apprentice if they have one.
Leader
The leader of the Clan rules the Clan; leader’s word is law. A leader must make discussions for the Clan, as well as represent the Clan at gatherings. A leader can communicate with StarClan, and are rewarded with nine lives and a name that ends in star (see naming) when they become leader. They must perform various ceremonies and train apprentices is they have one (traditionally the leader trains the deputy's kit).
